Wasserski Langenfeld The Wasserski-See Langenfeld lies between Cologne and Düsseldorf, on the edge of the Knipprather Wald recreation area near Langenfeld in the Rhineland. The lake is a reclaimed former gravel pit and is today one of the largest wakeboard and water-ski spots of its kind. The facility is fully geared towards water-skiing and wakeboarding: four large full-size cables with a feature park for all levels, plus two smaller system/mini cables for beginners. Newcomers can start with taster sessions on the mini cable and progressive courses, while advanced riders will find obstacles and lines for every skill level on the big cables. Equipment such as wakeboards and wetsuits can be rented for a fee. A highlight is the standing wave of Surf Langenfeld — according to the operator, the world's first lake-surfing wave, set in the middle of the lake, up to around 1.60 metres high and, thanks to sufficient water depth, rideable with normal surfboards. This makes it possible to experience wave riding right in the middle of NRW. There is plenty around it for a relaxed day by the water: swimming bays, a lawn for sunbathing, a beach bar, barbecue huts and the Seehaus restaurant with a view over the lake. A surf and equipment shop rounds off the offering. Besides the watersports, you can swim, fish, take a walk, or use the nearby sports centre for further activities.
